DSLR Camera for the etsy seller (as a newbe)

July 3, 2011 Leave a comment

So after asking lots of people I knew and tons of etsy sellers with fantastic photos, I settled on a used Canon 20D DSLR camera for about $300 on Amazon.  And I couldn’t be happier!  I also purchased a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 separately because it achieved that great fuzzy background, and I was told it was also more likely to create those “bokeh” sun spots.   I’m far from an expert at this point, but it’s been fun to experiment with backdrops and different light for my model photos.  Check out some of the results and let me know what you think!

Sparkling Jade, a new favorite!

August 18, 2010 Leave a comment

I never realized how beautiful jade is until I came across some lovely large Jade gemstones in different shades!  This stone has a lot of depth and rich color, and when faceted and cut, shines beautifully.

Jade is a stone valued for its beauty and utility. Jadeite (one of the two varieties of jade which includes yellow jade) can be found in Japan, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Guatemala, and in California and Alaska within the United States. Although jade is most often considered a green stone, the variety of jade known as jadeite comes in a variety of colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, lilac, pink, black, white, and brown.   Jade is the considered the mystical birthstone for March, and the astrological birthstone for Virgo. Jade is the anniversary gemstone for the 12th, 30th and 35th year of marriage.

Love sparkling druzy as much as I do??!

This lovely pink druzy agate stone is wire wrapped with 14k gold filled wire and hangs on a short delicate 14k gold filled chain. A very unique druzy crystal that glitters like a million diamonds in the sun!

This stone was imported from Brazil and hand selected for its quality and color. It may look delicate, but agate is actually quite hard. I’ve never seen druzy this lovely shade of pink (this stone is completely natural and NOT dyed), making this necklace absolutely ONE OF A KIND!

Love sparkling druzy?! Check out similar necklaces here  under shop section Agate/Druzy/Quartz.

Natural Agate Necklace on Gold

The word Agate comes from the Greek “Agateeq” which means happy. It is said to insure good health combined with a long and prosperous life. Often tiny quartz crystals form within the stone and add to the beauty and uniqueness of individual stones. These crystals are called drusy.

Agate is the Ayurvedic Birthstone for May, the Hebrew Birthstone for May, the Roman Birthstone for May, the Arabic Birthstone for June, the Mystical Birthstone for September. It is the accepted gemstone for the 12th and 14th wedding anniversaries.

It is found all over the world including: the Africa, Asia, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, and the USA. It can be traced back to the Stone Age man in France 20,000-16,000 BC. The Egyptians used it prior to 3000 BC. Agate was highly valued by ancient civilizations as it was said to render the wearer invisible.
