Vees, a clothing line with sass!

This chic shop has come up several times lately on etsy.com, so I thought I’d share a few photos.  Vees style has a little edge with lots of color and nice lines, making it original yet very wearable.  Currently out of LA, the designer studied at Parsons in NY, and has been sewing since she was a child (according to her etsy profile).    Check it out and let me know what you think!  http://www.vees.etsy.com

Sparkling Jade, a new favorite!

August 18, 2010 Leave a comment

I never realized how beautiful jade is until I came across some lovely large Jade gemstones in different shades!  This stone has a lot of depth and rich color, and when faceted and cut, shines beautifully.

Jade is a stone valued for its beauty and utility. Jadeite (one of the two varieties of jade which includes yellow jade) can be found in Japan, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Guatemala, and in California and Alaska within the United States. Although jade is most often considered a green stone, the variety of jade known as jadeite comes in a variety of colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, lilac, pink, black, white, and brown.   Jade is the considered the mystical birthstone for March, and the astrological birthstone for Virgo. Jade is the anniversary gemstone for the 12th, 30th and 35th year of marriage.

NOEMIAH on etsy – fabulous feather jewelry!

August 9, 2010 1 comment

NOEMIAH has been one of my favorite jewelry designers for a while now.  Her pieces are very unique and feminine, and the design and quality is exceptional.  All of her designs are created from a single feather, and she is inspired by color, texture, shape, length etc.. Then she plays with asymmetry, line and color contrasts.  She works mainly with quality feathers, plated chains, metal pieces, beads and semi-precious stones.
Check her shop out on etsy.com   http://www.etsy.com/shop/noemiah !

This black agate semi precious gemstone’s center has tiny sparkling crystals, called drusy, which naturally occur in agate. It hangs on delicate sterling silver chain with tiny sparkling black spinel gems on either side of 2 inch pieces of round sterling chain. The facets on this stone is nice and sharp, adding to its sparkle.  See this one and more at www.jguilddesigns.etsy.com!

The word Agate comes from the Greek “Agateeq” which means happy. It is said to insure good health combined with a long and prosperous life. Often tiny quartz crystals form within the stone and add to the beauty and uniqueness of individual stones. These crystals are called drusy.

Agate is the Ayurvedic Birthstone for May, the Hebrew Birthstone for May, the Roman Birthstone for May, the Arabic Birthstone for June, the Mystical Birthstone for September. It is the accepted gemstone for the 12th and 14th wedding anniversaries.

It is found all over the world including: the Africa, Asia, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, and the USA. It can be traced back to the Stone Age man in France 20,000-16,000 BC. The Egyptians used it prior to 3000 BC. Agate was highly valued by ancient civilizations as it was said to render the wearer invisible.
